Not true. Download the Xkernel kit for linux and you'll find everything
you need to boot a Sun 3, and full documentation (and even an automatic
install, I think). :-)

Under NetBSD, at least, rarpd will read /etc/ethers for the ethernet
address and hostname, and then look up the hostname using DNS (or whatever
you have configured):

    8:0:20:0:1f:db		spare_sun350_12M
