i recently acquired a tape drive from a 386i.  I have a non-functioning
drive from my 3/60.  they are both the same model number except for
a character at the end...

the sun3 is 5945C and the 386i is 5945S..   these are Archive units.

Should netbsd/sun3 be able to recognize the drive from the 386i?  
when i do an 'mt status' it comes back with '7: unknown tape drive type'

I was able to boot from my sunos boot tape (only once) with this 
drive, but none of the tapes that i have in tar format will read.

mt erase doesnt work...

any ideas?
