The Sun-3's are SCSI wierd.  I have a few of them and the only tape drive
they will talk to without a problem is a sun tape drive. Your best bet is to
bootstrap the sun from your amiga. I know netbsd runs on the amiga very well.
I have a friend who runs it on an Amiga.  So you should be able to net 
boot the sun from it.  Also the sun-3 won't talk just to any scsi hard drive.
older Maxtors, and Quantum drives work with sun-3.
