Yea, it only occured to me 5 minutes after I sent that message that
the only references might be in the same file (I was looking for
the symbol in the object files and that was the only occurance).
Chasing the wild goose again...

I'll be poking at it some more this weekend.

Is anyone interested in the ramdisk stuff?  It'll let you boot with
only one machine.  That's really the only advantage to it tho.
