Subject: Sun Elite3D firmware (afb.ucode) binary blob redistribution
I know years ago several BSD & Linux distros were interested in this,
and it's probably years too late now, but after getting pinged again
this summer by OpenBSD developers, I was finally able to get
permission
to allow afb.ucode redistribution as a binary blob under MIT License
terms.
If anyone out there is still interested (these cards are getting old
now,
having been sold from 1998 to 2002), the firmware is posted at:
http://dlc.sun.com/osol/sparc-gfx/downloads/afb-ucode.tar.bz2
The license terms are spelled out in the README included in the
tarball.
Unfortunately, I'm not able to release the tools needed to build the
firmware blob from sources, so while you can redistribute, you won't
be able to bug fix.
