I suggest using PF instead. It's more featureful and more
cleanly-coded/secure, meaning that I'm able to do things with PF that
I wasn't able to write in ipfilter's language or query with ipfilter's
tools, and that I've had many kernel panics related to ipfilter and
few related to PF.

I used it on a Netra T1 200 and had problems with gem and hme locking
up under 3 - 6 Mbit/s load every hour or so, so hopefully tlp will
work better.
