Be carefull. This "holes" are used to encode the type of RAM (SDRAM,
EDO, ...) and the supply voltage, i.e. 3.3 V or 5 V. Maybe you inserted
a 5 V part in your 3.3 V machine. I sugest to have a look at the JEDEC
spec for DIMMs.
