Is SMP going to be ready in time for the 3.0 release? I think this 3.0
candidate will be the release. If not, is SMP a matter of a few
architechtures (ultrasparc IIIi?) making it difficult for a sparc-64
general release or has the main blocking issue been something that
effects all sparc64 architechtures?

I'm sorry to ask such a perennial question; I tend to be oblivious most
of the time.
