That's exactly what it's supposed to do when it can't find any supported
graphics hardware.

This is new for 3.0, I guess someone forgot to point that out clear
enough when writing the FAQ entry. On the other hand the main sparc64
page clearly says that support for this hardware is present in
-current and will be introduced with 3.0
