Which variant do you have - the older Rage II or the Rage Pro? And are
you using -current ( if so - how old? ) or 3.0 BETA? The Rage II is
known to be troublesome in X, some of it should have been fixed though.
Rubbish in window titles sounds like XRender - does it also appear when
you use a bitmap font? XRender isn't exactly 64bit clean ( I fixed a bug
that would crash the Xserver a while ago, not sure if it has any ugly
side effects - I don't see any and it doesn't crash anymore ).
