running NetBSD you should be able to use this HBA -- alas, you cannot 
use it as boot device.

i have 2940UWs (peecee versions) running in a Power Mac G4 (NetBSD) and 
an Ultra 10 (the latter one boots from a CF card as even the IDE 
controller i built in as a fast alternative to it's on board snail 
isn't OF ready)...
