That was my experience. I have an Ultra 1 with a supported video card
(a "cgsix" in my case). After installing, you can check that you have
a symbolic link in /usr/X11R6/bin from "X" to "Xsun" (which someone
mentioned earlier). That's what you need so that startx and xdm end
up starting the correct X server executable.
