The chance that any random pkg builds + works out of the box on a big
endian 64 bit architecture with strict alignement requirements are
pretty low. Additionally the 1.6.x branch uses gcc 2.95.x - which is
hardly usable and completely fails to compile serious C++ code.

With newer gcc and more people actively building, running and fixing
pkgs, this improves - but as Andrey noted: this is user driven.
