Hi!

I have read the notice of Lloyd how he was able to get normal PC-style IDE Controller to work in SUN Workstations ( http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/sparc64/faq.html#pci-cards ).
I wanted to try this for myself. I have a AXi and I bought a Promise Ultra 100 TX2 Controller and 2 Seagate 120MB Baracuda IDE Drives.
But the problem is, that at the OBP the Ultra AXi isn't able to find the PCI Card as an IDE Controller.
I would be very pleased if it would be posible to get the IDE to work, because the SCSI drives are very expensive even if you use used ones of EBAY.
Now my questions:

1.) Is it just posible to do Lloyds Hack with a Ultra 5 or Ultra 10?
2.) If no:
2.1) is it posible to modify the OBP of the AXi that way that it is able to recognize IDE drives as well
2.2) if no:
2.2.1) is it posible to boot with SCSI drives an afterwards having the posibility of contacting the IDE Drives? Or is it mandatory that the OBP is supporting IDE?
3.) if yes: How to do Lloyds hack exactly - because seems I have done something wrong...
