Yes - the netbsd disklabel is endianness dependant.

I'm also not sure how a solaris IDE disk is configured?
I suspect it doesn't have an MBR (etc) so is completely alien to thei386
system.

You might have some joy requesting that the in-core label (only) be updated
- but you will need to have remembered the block numbers of the filesystem.
(and don't forget 'dkctl keeplablel')
