I suspect, based on Jason's patch, that various phys used with the hme 
misrepresent their capabilities.  The U5 at work doesn't need the patch
(I misremember which phy it uses) against Corega and Cisco switches, but my
U2 and Classic need it (both using DP83840 rev 1 phys).
