this was really a /.-troll-style  post, hubert ;)

the reason why it costs what it costs is because you don't buy it as a
random piece of hardware at some pc reseller but tested and supported
card for your Sun system which proved it's usability.  you pay for the
*support* and the *responsibility* which Sun has in case of failure.
(you can replace Sun for any other big iron vendor such as HP, SGI,
etc.)

after all, nobody forces you to buy it, right? :)  those who do probably
know why they do.
