Well, I finally received a Seagate external 18gig Ultra SCSI drive and a
wide-centronics cable. (cable took a week to send) Unfortunatley, the
Symbios SCSI card is not the OFW version, so I can't boot from the new
disk. However, the disk works fine otherwise. I've got /usr/src and a
second swap device on the drive so far, and a "make build" completed
just fine. I got the latest stuff from anoncvs today, and another "make build"
is in progress right now.

LSI Logic sells an Ultrawide SCSI controller that will boot on Sun/pci for
about $185US. I've looked at www.apcom.com, and they have an AXe based box
for $585US. I'm going to talk to them and see if they will sell the box
without a drive.

$500 (box) + $185 (SCSI card) + $250 (drive) = $935 (or maybe less)

For a new system with all parts having a 1 year warranty. :-)

And ps2 keyboard and mouse.
