BTW: cvs via ssh seems to work (again) - it failed for me some time ago, 
but that might  be because the machine is pretty busy.

You need a newer ofwboot. You can either build that yourself (in 
/usr/src/sys/arch/sparc64/stand) or get the one from 

  ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/sparc64/other/ofwboot

(I hope that is new enough, but I think that's why it is there)
