Success! I'm now downloading NetBSD-current onto my freshly
installed NetBSD-powered Ultra 5! The bootstrap-from-Solaris method
was the only way I was able to successfully install. I never ran
sysinst and I've got weird ffs slices now but at least it runs ;)
sshd/ssh and ftp all work great. Some things I've noticed :

  * ifconfig -a lists 0.0.0.0 as the network address even after I
successfully configure the hme0 device manually with ifconfig hme0
  10.0.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0.

  * dhcp does not work. After a couple seconds it starts spewing out
'receive_packet failed on hme0: Invalid argument'.

  * The prom console is extremely painful to use. Is anyone working
on the native console for the PCI machines?

  * /etc/rc.conf.d/sshd does not work, but executing the keygen and sshd
commands by hand does work. So now that I can ssh into this box, the
dog-slow prom console isn't as much of an issue.

Right now I want to get a native toolchain on this box so that I can
continue the fun. sup just goes to sleep on me so I'm downloading
NetBSD-current.tar via ftp right now. Any suggestions for the easiest
way to get a toolchain on here?

Thanks to everyone who offered assistance. I'll have some patches
for the install documents RSN.
