Yikes. That is still open?

No, obviously not.

I can put in the patches, but I neither have a reasonably recent 
port-sparc instance available on short notice, nor any sparc assembler 
fu. So somebody else would have to step up, or at least test the result 
of my fat-fingering.  ;)
