Yeah I had thought about that, but that would be a challenge.  The
SS10 in question is on the exhibit floor at LSSM, and there's no UPS
for those machines.  We've been having fairly severe thunderstorms
pretty much every day recently (drill baby drill, etc) so I'm not
comfortable leaving the machine up for long enough for a single SM41
to build an entire kernel.

Are you more concerned about a power failure taking the machine down or
about a power spike damaging it?

If the former, it's no big deal; just restart and make will skip
building what's already built.

If the latter...yeah, I get it.  Hmm....

More the latter. There are a lot of SPARCstation-10s out there, but playing loose with them is how things become "rare".
