I just committed a somewhat modified version of your patch, please
check if it still works on your hardware.
Both kernel and xorg drivers now just check the vmsize property which
seems to exist on all known (to me... ) cgsix, and assume 1MB VRAM if
that somehow fails.
The guesswork in the xorg driver only exists because the original
driver didn't care about off-screen memory since it didn't support any
acceleration whatsoever, and the sparcProm*() stuff was broken when I
added the acceleration code. I fixed the sparcProm*() stuff years ago,
no reason not to use it now.
