Since the classic has a cg3 onboard which is limited to 8bit colour and 
has no blitter you'll want something that's easy on the colour map, low 
on expensive eyecandy and has a small memory footprint - I usually use 
amiwm ( pkgsrc/wm/amiwm ). Others will suggest things like blackbox or 
one of the more minimalist wms. Just dig through pkgsrc/wm/. You may 
also want to try the xview packages, that's the free version of Sun's 
XView/OpenWindows toolkit which includes a fairly lightweight ( by 
today's standards at least ) window manager, namely olwm or olvwm ( the 
latter supports virtual desktops ).
