perhaps cd boot uses GENERIC and install puts netbsd-GENERIC_SUN4U.gz
on the disk.

is it possible to elect which kernel to install during install?

or hang on, perhaps i could boot from the cd,
then in a shell mount the disk,
then change the kernel.  derr.   good idea?
