I think I tried that - years ago a friend of mine had a 10yo maxtor
disk in a system - worked fine as long as you didn't power it down,
and if you did you had to tap it with a hammer to get it going again
;-)

My misstake was powering down the SS20 when I was heading out of town
for a week ;-)
