Depends on your idea of "elegant".  I wrote one of my own; it's
severely minimalist and has no configuration language - or rather, the
configuration language for it is C.  It belongs to the "menus belong in
restaurants, icons belong in shrines" school of thought; if you happen
to think that's elegant, you might want to look at it.

ftp.rodents.montreal.qc.ca:/mouse/X/ contains, among other things,
mwm.c and mwm.doc.  (It bears no relation to anything Motif except by
coincidence; I named it before I heard of Motif.  The first m stands
for Mouse.)
