You gave the right information, but I'd suggest you'd talk to 
tech-pkg@NetBSD.org about this.

What does the line the first syntax error happens look like? You should
find it in your pkgsrc/www/apache/work/apache-1..../ directory.

P.S.: random side note - why are you using the old apache? there is a
www/apache2 pkg.
