There is no special ZIP support, it's just a generic SCSI disk (that's
why sd1 attaches).

How did you try to mount it and how is the disk formatted? If you filled
it on a Windows machine I would suppose something like

 # mount -t msdos -r /dev/sd1c /mnt

should work.
