I've never had any problems with uptime on SS2's, or even on SS1 and
SS1+, though I have heard from others who've claimed there are some few
SS2s which did have strange hardware problems even when running SunOS-4,
and even as compared to nearly identical machines sitting right beside
them on a shelf and running nearly identical loads.
It's just the uptime of certain long-running and frequently context
switching programs that I've always had probles with on SS1 and SS1+,
such as the Xserver in particular, and to a lesser extent named come to
think of it.
Indeed even the SS1+ that I'm running 1.3.2 on right now is already over
44 days. Just the same I wouldn't call it "rock solid stable" beacuse
of the unexplainable program crashes. I think my SS2 was up to over 300
days at one point with 1.3.2.
