Welllll.... I am not so sure that would not be done - I keep recalling
how you selected the tape density/compression in SunOS 4.x (/dev/rst0,
/dev/rst8, /dev/rst24...blah) so it is not like such hacks were not
done elsewhere... it does not mean the same applies here but it would
not surprise me.
