Just to make sure there is no misconception: the original(?) question was
about IDE CD-ROM drives, I said those would just work.

Everybody else is talking about SCSI devices, which a U5 w/o additional
host adapter doesn't support.

I can't comment on the SCSI situation, never tried it and happen to have
two internal SCSI CD-ROM drives with SUN firmware only.
