I would love to know.  I've been on the lookout for an
external SCSI CD-R/W or CD-ROM but they seem to be a dying
breed.

I've just pulled an AppleCD 300i Plus (Matsushita CR-503-K)
from a Mac in the hope that I might be able to install my
SPARCstation from it.  I don't know if it does 512 byte
sector support, if it'll read CD-Rs or if the SPARCstation
will even talk to it.  I'll have to invest in some cables to
find out.
