I didn't know until now, but that's probably why I was told to use -mv8
only in connection with -O1. Maybe there's a bug in gcc if compiling
with -O2 and -mv8. My v8 kernel runs fine, and the machines don't crash
at all.

Be sure to set DBG to "-mv8 -O1", because otherwise it will still use
-O2, and the highest optimization level specified takes precedence in
gcc, not the last one specified.
