the large amount of compiling needed to bring a sparc system up with all
the packages i like is why i usually use the binary packages from
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/1.6/sparc/
and fill in any missing ones by building from the netbsd-1-6 branch of
pkgsrc.
