Erik, Brian,

The opposite is also true - you can use non-ofw cards with sparc64, as
long as you don't need PROM support.

I have an advansys (cheap) SCSI card and Intel network card in my U10,
both work fine under NetBSD.

short section about using standard PCI cards with NetBSD.
