I was talking about restructuring the hme driver, like revision 1.27 of
sys/dev/ic/hme.c (and the coresponding hmereg.h rev. 1.10 and hmevar.h
rev. 1.7)

While that version had problems and needs to be redone properly, it may make
a difference on your SS20.
