	Could be.

	D'oh! How could I have missed that page?!? ;-(

	I know that the more experienced NetBSD folks here may find this
a little tedious, but for the benefit of less experienced folks,
let's look at these routes & RTTs:

	Austria

		Belbone -> Amsterdam -> KPNQwest -> Frankfurt
			-> Munich -> Vienna (18 hops total)

		% ping -c 30 sunsite.univie.ac.at | tail -3
		----sunsite.csd.smc.univie.ac.at PING Statistics----
		30 packets transmitted, 30 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
		round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 56.225/60.436/124.720/12.447 ms

	France

		Belbone -> Level3 -> Paris -> SFINX -> Renater (5 hops)
			-> Jussieu (4 hops) -> antioche.lip6.fr (19 hops total)

		% ping -c 30 anoncvs.fr.netbsd.org | tail -3
		----antioche.antioche.eu.org PING Statistics----
		30 packets transmitted, 30 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
		round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 57.842/61.168/73.673/3.520 ms

	Germany

		Belbone -> Level3 (4 hops) -> DFN (4 hops)
			-> LRZ-Muenchen (3 hops) -> anoncvs.leo.org (18 hops total)

		% ping -c 30 anoncvs.de.netbsd.org | tail -3
		----anoncvs.leo.org PING Statistics----
		30 packets transmitted, 30 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
		round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 42.430/50.619/76.633/5.124 ms

	Hmm. When I was working at Skynet (whom I continue to use as my
ISP), I know we had major news peerings with University of Vienna,
and smaller peerings with various sites in Germany and France, but
our connectivity seemed best with sites in the Netherlands, parts of
Germany, and Austria, with SFINX being a fairly significant
bottleneck into France.

	From looking at these numbers, obviously 22-25ms of latency is
due to my ISDN line, but beyond that I don't see particularly
significant differences (on average) between my systems and these
three networks. Yes, the German site is an average of about 10ms
quicker, but that's about it. However, at the moment, there would
appear to be some fairly significant network issues with Austria
(look at the maximum RTT and the standard deviation).

	Since the German site is ~10ms faster than the other two and the
standard deviation is less than 2ms larger than that of the French
site, I think I'll try it first. Nevertheless, I'll keep this list
of three nearby ANONCVS sites, and in the future I'll know which ones
are more local and therefore should be tried first.

	Sigh.... Unfortunately, I appear to be having login problems
with the German site:

		% cvs login
		(Logging in to anoncvs@anoncvs.de.netbsd.org)
		CVS password:
		cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server anoncvs.de.netbsd.org: EOF
		% cvs login
		(Logging in to anoncvs@anoncvs.de.netbsd.org)
		CVS password:
		cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server anoncvs.de.netbsd.org: EOF

	So, now I'm trying the French site. I'll let you folks know if I
have any other problems.

	Thanks again!
