I am tending to think it must be the frame buffer. I pulled it and
got it running fine on the VT100 tty, on 1.4.3, 1.5, and OpenBSD 2.8.
I will peruse the junque box at home over the weekend and see if any
more frame buffers pop up out of the bilges and see if they might work.

I got a second SS10 machine for 30 bucks in todays dumpster diving surplus
feeding frenzy, and loaded it up. I will try my own frame buffers and
monitors from the home stack and see if anything can be resolved.
My expectation is that the framebuffer ist kaput.

Thanks
