decided to do a clean install of 1.5 on a sparc classic. no problems, went
very smoothly but for some reason i ended up with a very minimal /etc/rc.conf
so i decided to merge one in from another classic running 1.4.2 (this may be
completely unrelated to the problem by the way!) so now i have a few useful
deamons (demons? i never know) running like screenblank etc.

Problem:

potomac: {4} ps
ps: warning: /var/run/dev.db: No such file or directory
PID TT STAT TIME COMMAND
178 ?? Is+ 0:02.05 -csh
188 ?? Ss 0:00.53 -csh
200 ?? R+ 0:00.01 ps

why doesnt this file exist? did i miss a step? what have i done wrong and how
can i correct it? how important is it.... etcetc?

i see it in the ps(1) man page as /dev name database which sounds quite
important!

any help appreciated

cheer
