I have tried sendmail in its virgin configuration and is now running
postfix to see if that may solve my problem.

Well, I've got:

	/var/spool/mqueue 755 root:daemon
	/var/mail 755 root:mail

But I'll try your settings.

Also, I may have a solution to all my problems.

During the installation the kernel didn't go well along with the esp
controller, so I had to extract everything manually. Using sysinst was
hopeless and the old method was no good either.

I used tar zxvvf, but I should probably have used something different,
apparently since tar did not restore the correct permissions such as
setuid, etc.

I suppose I could just mount the CDROM and extract the lot again using
the correct command if someone can tell me which one I should use.
And I should probably try the netbsd-genericnosync kernel from
1.5.1ALPHA as suggested by David Brownlee last week.
