from checking the web page, and making some deductive guesses, looks like NVRAM
on a easy to remove chip.  the web page makes it seem that the entire unit is
Field Replacable (single FRU they call it) so i'm guessing if it breaks they
send you a new one and they deal with your broken one at their leisure at their
site.

just a guess, but i think a good one. :)
