Thing is all I did was generate the keys for root and didn't do
anything else -- and I can log into root from my other machine at
home. Trying from work on a IPX running Sun, I get this for root:

debug: Host key found from the database.
debug: client_disconnect: Protocol error: packet too long: 47269598.

Disconnected; protocol error.
debug: uninitializing event loop
bash$

...but the log-in from an Intel box running RedHat and with a compiled
ssh to the Sparc works fine at root (I'm downloading pkgsrc right now
using sup).
