The OpenBoot does not know how to access the keyboard. (At least for
the 2.30 version.) Changing the hardware can't have any effect.

But, the OpenBoot probably do know how to talk to a sun Type-4 and
Type-5-keyboard over the exact same chip used for the PS/2
keyboard. But testing that would require some serious hardware
hacking.

All we have is purplegrayish, like the one on the picture.

Don't think so. The keyboard does not work in the PROM because this
was never designed to work.
