"Does" (not "did"!) -- I've been using one every day for over a year on
my SS-1+ (recently upgraded from an SS-1 motherboard).

I wouldn't use anything of less resolution or sharpness for a daily
workstation.

The MG3 (a P4 card for Sun 3/60 and 3/80 systems) can reportedly also do
1600x1280 too (and it is supposedly switchable to 1152x900 with J5401).
