release line) straight:

1.5:  All that can switch to ELF will.
2.0:	UBC.  Threads?
2.1:	MP?
3.0:	SMP?

...or are we going to be wise about this and bypass asymmetric MP
altogether?

You're right, and not the first person to think of that :-) The code
to do this (and other things) in NetBSD exists, on the "ubc" CVS
branch. It looks like it will be brought in immediately after 1.5,
for inclusion in 2.0.
