Mine does the same thing, but it works so I don't care very much (though it
did confuse me for a long time):
xiamin@ghostpriest ~ % ifconfig be0
be0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        media: Ethernet 10baseT (10baseT half-duplex)
        status: no carrier
