Hi !

Ok, i'm new in the list, because since some days i'm collecting Suns also. (For
now everything was VAX-based stuff :-) So hi, all !

Yesterday i got a SparcStation 20 with a little problem. If i start it up
without monitor and keyboard (serial terminal connected to port A), it says:

           SMCC SPARCstation 10/20 UP/MP POST version 3.1 (11/19/93)

CPU_#0 TI, TMS390Z50(3.x) 0Mb External cache

CPU_#1 ******* NOT installed *******
CPU_#2 ******* NOT installed *******
CPU_#3 ******* NOT installed *******

           >>>>> Power On Self Test (POST) is running .... <<<<<

    <<< CPU_00000000 on MBus Slot_00000000 >>>
     ERROR : Address = 00000010,
     exp[31:00] = ffffffff, obs[31:00] = fff00000, xor[31:00] = 000fffff
     U-NUMBER : Suspect Viking Module

The numbers in obs and xor fields vary, and it doesn't matter if i install
memory or leave it out. I removed all SBus-cards, only thing inside is the
CPU card. Maybe this is the "Viking Modules". I re-soldered the MBus connector
on the mainboard, but nothing changed.

Does someone know about such a problem and knows a solution ? Or is my CPU
module trash ? (The box runs, so the CPU should be OK...)

Please Reply to michael@camaronet.de, don't know when subscription in the list
is completed.

Thanks, Michael
