comes up with 'ok' as normal (sometimes)

these IPC's came from architecture at curtin.edu.au - just in case this
is a hardware problem I should mention that the keyboards and mice are
Type 4 Rev A (keyboard) and Mouse Systems M4 (SUN 370-1170-01).
