Ya, I filled a PR on this [port-sparc/7409].  I have a Sparc 2 that does
this exact same thing when I try using a serial console.  It appears to be
PROM version related.  The SS2 I have has PROM version 2.2, an IPX I have
has PROM version 2.3 and it does not have this problem.  A annoying and
hopefully temporary workaround for me was to make get_serial_promdev in
sys/arch/sparc/dev/zs.c return PROMDEV_TTYA instead of -1 in the fall
through case.

[The property strings appear to return nothing which is the reason why
this function falls through]
